A Tranquil Weekend Getaway

This has been one of the best beach discoveries!! Shrivardhan- A small village which generally does not feature in weekend itineraries in Google search. We too accidentally came across this place while searching for hotels at Diveagar, which is more commercialized tourist place.

We planned a three day road trip to Diveagar- Shrivardhan- Harihareshwar, one day for each.

Tip 1: You will come across quite a lot of hotels and home-stays at Diveagar and Harihareshwar on the internet, but if you are planning for a more peaceful stay, I would suggest you to stay at Shrivardhan. Infact the only place to stay at Shrivardhan is Sea Wind Resort, just 5 min drive to beach, and with clean rooms, tasty food and fun pool. Also, Shrivardhan lies at the midway of Diveagar and Harihareshwar, just 30 min drive to both the places.

A beautifully kept small village, with too huge and clean beaches I have ever seen, amazing plantation of coconut trees, and inherent calmness of the breezy winds. A heavenly retreat for the vacationors looking for a quite place.

Tip 2: The highlight of the trip is the beautiful drive from Shrivardhan to Diveagar along the seas, must visit at sunrise and sunset! Too mesmerizing and too beautiful to be true! I would do injustice to its beauty if I write here in few words…You need to see it to believe it!

Driving our car on the beach for a long stretch at full speed and with music on high volume was the highest moment of the whole trip. And of course foodies like us couldn’t miss the beach side Maggi, coffee, barf gola, pakoda-chai, egg bhurji paav!

Tip 3: Book your lunches and dinners at “Khanawals” (eat-outs at someone’s home!). Finger licking food, amazing hospitality and you get to meet wonderful people! You have to have at least one treat at ‘Suhas Bapat Khanawal’, one of the most popular places to eat at Diveagar!

The place is quite untouched, its serenity hasn’t been disturbed yet and its air is still fresh. People like me who have already visited it twice and planning for third, and then promoting it on blogs are definitely responsible for disturbing it peace. So the most important tip: Enjoy the place, enjoy its calmness, sit on the beach for hours looking at the horizon but do not litter, do not expect it to be a “Goa Vacation” and do not spoil the peaceful aura of the place 🙂

Happy Travelling!
